Yesterday went much better than Wednesday. I only had two classes before lunch, and all my classes after lunch were cancelled for a field trip. Niall didn't want to go, but I decided to. We went to the Grand Concert Hall in downtown to watch the Daegu Symphony Orchestra give a concert. The building has just been remodeled, and it was beautiful. The entire school went, so the huge hall was just filled with us. It's funny because at home we usually have buses that take us on field trips, but here, the students all took the subway and were told to meet at the building at a specific time. There is a lot of trust between the students and teachers despite the fact that the teachers are still allowed to use a bit of corporal punishment. I thought it was a really beautiful concert, but I must admit that I did fall asleep a bit. I was REALLY tired. I still have to get my sleep schedule figured out. Not used to going to be and getting up early still.
After the concert, I got to go home early :). I spent the afternoon watching Supernatural and napping. Then, I went to home plus to get a few more things for the house. I had to buy myself a better pan since the fiasco the other night. I cooked myself some grilled cheese for dinner. It was really nice to have something from home since the past 3 weeks I have been eating Korean, obviously. I also ate the most delicious peach. We bought them at home plus a few nights ago. Soooo juicy!
Gianni was out to dinner with his school last night, and it turns out he was at a restaurant right down the street from me, so he came right over afterwards. We relaxed for a bit and watched shows, but then we decided we should do some exploring of the area. We went for like an hour long walk to see what was around, and we stopped at a book store. We got some teaching stuff (stickers to bribe the children!), and I got this game that the kids like called gonggi. It's basically Korean jacks, and the pieces look like the picture I've added on the sides. On Monday, the kids were playing a gonggi tournament during home room, and there was only one girl playing! So I guess it's more of a boy game, but it's really cool. Manual dexterity skills and all. Here are the rules to playing gonggi that we looked up. How to Play Gonggi. It didn't seem like the kids were playing that way, but maybe they were. After our exploration, we went home and relaxed some more before bed.
